About

Theatre can be electric and exciting – never more than when somebody forgets their lines. But too many critics – with their long-winded analyses of contexts, motifs and underlying themes – aim to tell you what to think, rather than what to see.

We’ll cut straight to the chase. Is the production worth my cash? Will I get to see nudity? Will my date think I’m suave, or a pretentious bore? Will I need a qualification in English literature to decipher it?

We have no formal training in theatre, only an appetite for a good time and sympathy for other paying punters.

If there’s anything we’ve missed, that you’d like us to check out or that we’ve got wrong, contact us at aucklandcommoncritic@gmail.com
